SUNBURY – River and creek levels are rising as rain continues Saturday. Sunbury received a 1/2-inch of rain overnight and the Penn Valley Airport reported two-tenths of an inch. Rain is expected to continue through the morning and taper off by Saturday afternoon.
Most areas of the Central Susquehanna Valley will receive about an inch of rain. The river and creeks are now free of ice jams, so there is no flood watches. Penns Creek will rise to just above 5 feet, with flood stage at 8 feet.
The Susquehanna River at Lewisburg is expected to rise to above 14-feet later this coming week, with flood stage at 18 feet. The river at Sunbury, Milton, Bloomsburg and Danville will all crest below flood stage. (Ali Stevens)
