SUNBURY – Police are warning Northumberland County residents of a phone scam. Sunbury police chief Brad Hare tells WKOK people are receiving phone calls from individuals claiming to be representatives of PPL.
The caller tells victims there is a balance on their electric bill that must be paid immediately using a credit or debit card. According to Hare, PPL will not handle overdue accounts in this manner. If you receive a call like this, do not give out any information and contact PPL customer service. (Jennifer Wakeman)
