Pennsylvania 4-H Announces This Year’s Winner, Valley Woman Named

UNIVERSITY PARK – A Valley Woman is a statewide 4-H award winner. The Pennsylvania 4-H says Kathryn Shea of Snyder County has officially been announced as the 2023 recipient of the Outstanding Lifetime Award by Pennsylvania 4-H.

The Outstanding Lifetime Volunteer Award recognizes the 4-H volunteers who have served for at least 10 years. 2023 recognizes Kathryn Shea who started as an interim 4-H educator in a neighboring county. Shea has now been a 4-H volunteer for 17 years and has seen all three of her sons through the program.

They say Shea has introduced new ideas and projects during her time as a 4-H volunteer as well as increased membership in not only her own club, but also in the county program. Shea has aided in introducing new members to a number of different design expressive arts programs.

Shea also serves on the local fair board as its website and social media manager, works the livestock office, and participates on the rabbit and poultry committees. She guided the 4-H members in the planning, preparation, and facilitation of the “Backyard Bunnies” show.
