PennDOT Tells Motorists to Drive Responsibly During Labor Day

HARRISBURG – PennDOT and Pennsylvania State Police want to urge motorists to celebrate responsibly ahead of Labor Day weekend.

PennDOT’s Executive Deputy Secretary Cheryl Moon-Sirianni implores drivers crashes involving impaired drivers are entirely preventable. Anyone who has plans with alcohol involved should make plans with friends, or use public transit, or a ride-share service.

According to PennDOT, in 2022 there were over 1,200 crashes resulting on 817 injuries and 17 deaths statewide over Labor Day weekend.

Over the weekend state police and local law enforcement will conduct impaired driving enforcement details running through September 4.
