PennDOT Secretary talks about CSVT impacts

penndot FEATSUNBURY – The Valley has become a critical crossroads in the Northeast and the Central Susquehanna Valley Transportation project is a key part in PennDOT’s plan. PennDOT Secretary Leslie Richards says the CSVT will have a significant impact on traffic movement through the region, “This is a big project even by PennDOT standards. Over $650 million going into this project, we know it’s going to have a big regional impact. When we look at the traffic forecast in the next five years, we’re expecting traffic to more than double on certain areas without this CSVT.”

Route 11/15 serves as a major freight and passenger corridor between Maryland and New York. Richards says the project will improve traffic flow for all travelers, “The construction of this project will reduce the average total delay experienced on area roadways by 75 percent. That’s a huge decrease.”

The ceremonial groundbreaking for the CSVT will be May 20 at 2p.m in Winfield. You can hear more from Secretary Richards from WKOK’s On The Mark, online at wkok.com.
