PennDOT: Go ahead and pull off old PA registration sticker

PA drivers can remove old stickers from license plate

SUNBURY– You may want to remove your old Pennsylvania vehicle registration sticker from your car if you are traveling through another state. Social media posts lately allege that out-of -state police officers have been pulling drivers over with outdated stickers.  Many state legislators, like our local state representative Lynda Schlegel-Culver have been sharing this message on social media.

In a cost saving move, PennDOT stopped issuing registration stickers last year, they say they’ve alerted police departments in other states and Canada about the lack of registration stickers, but officers have reportedly been pulling Pennsylvania drivers over with old stickers on their plates.

The state police encourage residents who are pulled over in another state for a sticker violation to explain the change to the officer and show paperwork of your registration that should be in your vehicle at all times. (Sarah Benek)
