MT PLEASANT MILLS – Five men remain hospitalized after an accident in Snyder county Monday. State police say 22-year-old Theodore Martin of Swengel was driving on Route 104 in Perry Township when he fell asleep at the wheel of this truck around 6:40a.m. The truck left the roadway, became airborne and landed in Mahantango Creek.
Martin was carrying five passengers at the time of the accident. 29-year-old Melvin Zimmerman, 18-year old John Reiff and 18-year-old Eric Martin are listed in critical condition. 19-year-old Mervin Reiff and Theodore Martin are in serious condition. All are being treated at Geisinger Medical Center.
Police say one occupant got out of the truck after the accident and walked onto Route 104 into the path of a southbound vehicle. Route 104 was closed for several hours after the accident Monday morning.
