Pat Summitt, winningest coach in D1 history, dies at 64
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Former University of Tennessee women’s basketball coach Pat Summitt has died at age 64.
Summitt had Alzheimer’s disease. She was the winningest coach in Division I college basketball history, leading the Lady Vols to eight national championships.
Her son Tyler Summitt issued a statement saying his mother died peacefully at a retirement community in Knoxville, Tennessee.
