COMMONWEALTH UNIVERSITY – The Philadelphia Inquirer is reporting… The Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education has launched an early review of Commonwealth University President Bashar Hanna, following a no-confidence vote from faculty and coaches last month.
PASSHE leaders say presidential evaluations are routine but usually take place closer to contract renewals. Hanna, whose contract runs until June 2028, requested the early review along with the university’s trustees to assess communication, transparency, and effectiveness.
An outside consultant will conduct the evaluation, gathering input from students, faculty, and staff. The review follows faculty concerns over declining enrollment, budget struggles, and a $4 million wrongful termination verdict linked to a whistleblower case. Hanna says he has no plans to step down.
