DANVILLE — Emergency personnel had to clean up more than 20 tons of sand that spilled onto Route 54 near Danville on Tuesday. The Press Enterprise reports Ed Koser was driving a dump truck, which flipped onto its side as he tried to avoid a car that turned in front of him at Old Valley School Road. Twenty-two tons of sand poured out of the truck, onto the highway near Interstate 80.
The accident happened around 12:30 p.m. and traffic was tied up for about two hours. Koser was taken to Geisinger Medical Center, where he was treated and released. The couple in the car was not seriously injured and did not need medical treatment. They were said to be from Brooklyn, New York.
