NEW BERLIN – Sun Area Technical Institute is open to the public all day Wednesday for their Open House. The event is for students, parents and others to meet instructors and see the various programs and career options available.
Erin Beaver is a senior at Selinsgrove High School and is the only female welding student at Sun Tech, “You will be able to walk around the shop and take a look at all of our welds that we have done this year. There is also a welding simulator that you can do. All the parents can try it out. It’s actually pretty fun.”
Quincy Amabile is a senior at Mifflinburg and a carpentry student at Sun Tech, “You will see the small house that we built in our shop, that doesn’t have a roof, but you can still go in and it’s kind of like a playhouse so, if kids want to go in and look around, it’s kind of neat.”
The Open House will continue until 8 p.m. with an alumni reception from 6 to 7 p.m. Sun Area Technical Institute is located on East Market Street in New Berlin. They educate students in the Lewisburg, Midd West, Mifflinburg, Selinsgrove and Shikellamy districts along with adult students. (Ali Stevens)
