SHAMOKIN DAM — One man is in custody, one is still on the loose and the public is not in any danger, so says Shamokin Dam police chief Tim Bremigen. One man was arrested Monday in connection with an armed robbery at Sterners Coin Shop in Shamokin Dam. Michael Rodenizer of Beavertown was arrested after attempting to flee the scene with an accomplice who is still at large.
The two men entered the store, struck the owner of the shop with a pistol, and tied him up while they robbed the place. Despite original reports of gunshots being fired, tells WKOK that no shots were fired.
Rodenizer was apprehended after a brief car chase that resulted in a vehicle crash. The two perpetrators fled on foot with Rodenizer being caught, while the other male got away.
Rodenizer has not been charged yet, but he is in Snyder County prison on a parole violation. The shop owner was treated for minor injuries and released. (Christopher Elio)
