PennDOT still working on final plan for Northumberland project
NORTHUMBERLAND – PennDOT continues to iron out plans for a major road construction project in The Valley. At a meeting of the Greater Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce Transportation Committee Friday, Ted Deptula, a PennDOT engineer said the Duke and Water Street project in Northumberland will be the subject of several upcoming meetings.
PennDOT plans to meet with residents, emergency management services, law enforcement and the school district to discuss the safest ways to maintain traffic flow during the project. Another public meeting is expected to be held later this summer. An estimated 15,000 cars per day travel on Duke Street and will have to be re-routed through Northumberland while work is being done. The project is slated to begin in April 2017. (Jennifer Wakeman)
