NORTHUMBERLAND – State Representative Lynda Schlegel Culver (R-108th, Sunbury) will have a challenger in the general election. John Deppen of Northumberland has received enough write-in votes to be on the November ballot for state representative in the 108th legislative district.
The Democrat received 317 write-in votes and needed 300 to be on the ballot. He received word on Friday that he was officially on the ballot. Deppen said he was relieved to finally know for sure that he was on the ballot, after “jumping through a lot of hoops” to receive information following the election.
Deppen says he was thankful for the election directors in Snyder and Northumberland Counties, who provided him with needed information through the process. He was able to learn that 39 Republicans wrote him-in as their legislative candidate, which Deppen said was encouraging, to know there is bi-partisan support for his candidacy. (Ali Stevens)
