Northumberland County Raises Worker Pay, to Combat Inflation

SUNBURY – Some Northumberland County employees are getting a little help from the county commissioners to help them combat rising costs due to inflation nationwide. Commissioner chairman Sam Schiccatano says commissioners unanimously agreed to raise the essential premiums, a program to benefit essential workers. He says these raises approved at Tuesday’s public meeting are for full-time employees. He says premiums were raised to $50 a month, up to $600, from July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022.

In addition, commissioners say they are sending a letter to state officials, including Governor Tom Wolf, and federal officials, concerning senior citizens who may not be able to keep up with the cost of heating this winter.
