Northumberland County prison guard–busted

arrested

SUNBURY – A Northumberland County corrections officer was arrested today for providing inmates with tobacco. Court documents say Joseph Marinelli, IV distributed tobacco and possibly “Spice” to inmates of the Northumberland County prison in late 2014.

Marinelli is the latest person to be charged in an on-going investigation by Northumberland County Detective Degg Stark. Marinelli is charged with obstructing administration of law by delivering prohibited substances to county inmates. If found guilty, he faces two years in prison and a $5,000 fine.

Last month, two former staff members, Troy Taffner and Susan Studenski were also charged with providing tobacco to inmates at the Northumberland County prison. (Jennifer Wakeman)
