COAL TOWNSHIP — A Northumberland County prisoner is facing multiple charges after assaulting a correctional officer. District Attorney Tony Matulewicz says inmate Michael Bean was being escorted back to his cell by officer Jared Ruch when Bean launched an attack. The inmate struck Ruch several times in the face, breaking his glasses.
Charges were filed with district judge John Gembic Wednesday. A preliminary hearing will be scheduled within the next few weeks.
