SUNBURY — Northumberland County is raking in money with Facebook. For two weeks, the county has been posting faces of those with open bench warrants on the social media site. Justin Dunkelberger, county prothonotary says the Facebook page has proven successful, “We posted 65 different photos of individuals and of those 65, 41 have come down in two weeks.”
Dunkelberger says there is a misconception about who is being featured on the Facebook page and two billboards, “Everybody who’s been on Facebook or will be on a billboard has a warrant for their arrest. These are not people who are behind on child support for a couple of months, that’s not who we are looking at.”
Dunkelberger says posts on Facebook and the billboards are updated as soon as payment arrangements are made. (Jennifer Wakeman)
