NORTHUMBERLAND – After losing a court battle recently, North Shore Railroad says the battle is far from over. In a statement to WKOK, the railroad says it intends to fight with every legal means possible.
In a court ruling earlier this month, Carload Express Inc. of Allegheny County was awarded an opportunity to keep fighting for the SEDA-COG Joint Rail Authority shortlines. SEDA-COG lines are currently run by North Shore, which has four other short lines across seven counties in Central Pennsylvania. The court ruling favored Carload Express, saying a vote by SEDA-COG years ago was tainted. You can view North Shore’s full statement at WKOK.com.
Issued by North Shore staffer Joe Kantz: “You may have heard or read recent news stories saying we may no longer be serving the customers on the JRA owned rail lines. NSHR intends to fight this with every legal means possible. We have way too much invested in our 80 plus employees, nearly 100 customers and this wonderful community to fold up our tent and go home. It is our hope that NSHR will be serving and helping to grow our local economy for many years to come.”
