North Shore Rail, SEDA-COG, face decisions

north shoreLEWISBURG –The SEDA-COG Joint Rail Authority is now evaluating proposals from three operators competing for the chance to run on SEDA-COG’s rails. Oral presentations from Carload Express of Pittsburgh, North Shore Railroad of Northumberland and Northern Plains Railroad of North Dakota were heard Monday. A new contract, beginning in July 2017 will be awarded next month.

Jeff Stover, executive director of the JRA says the ten scoring board members now have enough information to make their decision, “I think they have all the information. They’ll be doing their own scoring. I think at next week’s rail authority meeting there will be some discussion about engaging a consultant to look at one aspect of the proposals, but other than that I think they have all the information they need.”

The JRA owns 200 miles of track in seven counties.
