MIDDLEBURG – A tentative budget up for approval in the Midd-West School District will not include a tax increase for the 2016-17 school year. The board agreed on Monday to use money set aside in cash reserves to avoid a tax increase.
The tentative $36.2-million budget is expected to be approved by the board on May 23 with a final spending plan adopted in June. The district currently has more than $2-million in reserves. They also have money set aside to cover the cost of construction at West Snyder Elementary School. The school is being remodeled at a cost of $8-million, which is funded entirely by reserve money.
