News Item: Police Revive Crime Watch to Boost Safety

SUNBURY — The News Item is reporting… The Sunbury Police Department is reviving its long-dormant crime watch program to strengthen ties with residents and enhance public safety.

The newspaper reports, at the department’s second crime watch meeting Tuesday night, Police Chief Travis Bremigen outlined plans to divide the city into four sectors and train volunteers as additional eyes and ears for law enforcement.

Volunteers must pass background checks and will receive training from Pennsylvania State Police. The program will include police ride-alongs and neighborhood outreach.  For more information, residents can contact the department at 570-286-4587 and ask for Chief Bremigen.
