New policy on police video in Mahoning Township

mahoning FEATDANVILLE — Mahoning Township supervisors adopted a new police camera policy at their meeting Monday night.

David Barron, supervisor chairman says the policy includes restrictions on personal use of video equipment, “We had a written report concerning what the police officers are allowed and not allowed to do with the new cameras that we purchased, and this just indicated that they could not use any of this for their own personal use or use the video in anyway other than what was in the policy.”

The camera policy became necessary after the township purchased three Watch Guard cameras and microphones in April. (Sarah Benek)
