LEWISBURG – After years and years of planning, designing and constructing, the new Lewisburg Area High School will open their doors next Monday. Superintendent Dr. Mark DiRocco was a guest on WKOK Sunrise talking about the big reveal.
DiRocco said, “Well, we are excited about the new high school. We are opening Monday, December 5. We have our contractors in there doing their final touches this week. They will be working full days Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of this week finishing some things up. December 5th, the kids come, we open the doors and we will have a ribbon cutting ceremony that day at four o’clock in front of the school.”
DiRocco said they will also host two open house events for anyone to attend. They will be Saturday December 10 and Saturday December 17 from 9 to noon at the new high school. He is pleased the high school will be ready to open, “I will tell you inside, the only thing that probably will not be fully operational as of December 5th will be the gymnasium. We don’t know if we will have the bleachers in by December 5.”
DiRocco continued, “Everything else is ready to go. I did a walk-through on Saturday and spent some time in there and we just have some finishing touches to do and cleanup. We’ve got to get rid of lots of construction dust and things like that.”
There is also still work to do outside of the building, “On the outside, the excavation…that was set back a little bit. But, everything will be graded. All the soil will be stabilized and all of the paving and the concrete work will be finished by December the 5th.”
