MILTON — The old Library building in downtown Milton was built in the 1930’s, but it is the new home to a new creative energy, so says Brice Brown, founder of the Milton Art Bank. The Milton Art Bank is an innovative art hall that hopes to get the public involved in artistic discussions, “One of the main reasons to do this is to engage the community and to start a conversation and to sort of throw this crazy question mark in Milton and say ‘let’s talk about. Is this art? Do you think this is art?'”
Brown, who lived in New York City for many years, thinks Milton is the perfect place for a cultural renaissance, “It’s within 2 and half hours of New York, Philly, Baltimore, Pittsburgh is not too far. Also more locally, has Lewisburg, and Danville, Bloomsburg and Williamsport, so in a lot of ways it makes a lot of sense to start looking at a place like Milton.”
The Milton Art Bank has shows that run for 3 months at a time, but during those exhibitions, they will also host special individual performances, including this weekend. Friday, at 8pm, Douglas Dunn and his dance troupe, with the music of Steven Taylor will be performing “Contours,” and Saturday Sept 30, at 1pm, “Vain Combat.”
There is no charge for the performances. For more information go to MiltonArtBank.com. You can hear more about the Art Bank at WKOK.com, Brown was on a recent WKOK Sunrise program. (Christopher Elio)
