BLOOMSBURG – A man wanted for killing his son in law will be extradited to Columbia County today from Argentina. 75-year-old Anthony Rocco Franklin is expected to arrive in Columbia County today for arraignment at 4 p.m. before District Judge Doug Brewer in Millville.
Government and law enforcement officials have been working for months to have Franklin extradited to the United States after he fled to Argentina. He was taken into custody in Buenos Aires on September 15, 2014 for the murder of Frank Spencer, and was incarcerated in Argentina since his arrest.
Franklin will be arraigned on charges of criminal homicide, conspiracy, burglary, arson and other counts. Police say Franklin and his daughter, Maria Sanutti Spencer, killed Frank Spencer in 2012. Sanutti Spencer was sentenced to life in prison without parole in December of 2015 after she was convicted of first degree murder. (Ali Stevens)
