LEWISBURG – A local theatre will present movies for those with hearing disabilities. The Campus Theatre in Lewisburg is partnering with Geisinger to present Open Caption screenings every Saturday in August.

Open Caption screenings include readable text on the movie screen with descriptors of dialogue, sound effects and music. The soundtrack still plays along with the movie, but the additional content specifically caters to people with hearing disabilities who utilize listening devices, hearing aids, cochlear implants, sign language, and lip reading.

Arthur Breese, director of diversity at Geisinger says, “We are pleased to provide an opportunity for people with hearing loss to enjoy movies that they otherwise might not attend.”

Digital Open Caption does not require the use of any special listening devices or similar technology. For a complete list of Open Caption film being shown in August, visit www.campustheatre.org. (Jennifer Wakeman)
