MOUNT CARMEL – Monday’s fire at a Mount Carmel row home has been ruled accidental.  According to Lieutenant Chris Buhay of the Mount Carmel Police Department, an investigation determined the fire was accidental and electrical in nature.

State Police Fire Marshall Kirk Renn, Mount Carmel Township Police Chief Brian Hollenbush, Borough Fire Chief Daniel Cimino and Buhay began an investigation shortly after the fire was extinguished Monday and finished up Tuesday.  They believe the fire originated in the wall of 215 South Walnut Street.  The home was occupied by Anthony and Karen Mcginley.

The fire spread to several neighboring homes.  Route 61 was closed in the area for over six hours.  Borough Fire Chief James Reed Sr. was injured in the blaze and is currently in critical condition at Lehigh Valley Burn Unit.  (Codi Jade)
