LEWISBURG – There was record attendance last night for the annual Cookin’ Men fundraiser for the Thyra M. Humphrey’s Center for Breast Health. More than 300 people sampled homemade appetizers, entrees, soups and desserts from 27 male chefs.
Attendees could vote for their favorite dishes. Participating chefs tried to raise $1,000 each to go towards the cause. For the first time, the event was held at the new Rusty Rail Brewing Company and ticket holders each received a complimentary hand-crafted beer.
All money raised supports the breast cancer awareness programs at the Breast Center, providing free mammograms for uninsured and underinsured patients. The fundraiser is part of Paint the Valley Pink, an effort by Evangelical Community Hospital and Sunbury Broadcasting Corporation, during the month of October.
