SHAMOKIN – The owner of a hearing aid business in Shamokin is facing a second round of charges, following another investigation into allegations of fraudulent business practices. Jerome Lucht, owner of Anvil Hearing Aid Center was charged after 12 more victims were identified during the investigation.
Northumberland County District Attorney Ann Targonski says 23 new criminal charges have been filed against Lucht, including deceptive business practices and theft by deception. Police say Lucht took money from customers for new hearing aids and didn’t deliver what they paid for. The total financial loss reported by the second set of vitims is estimated at more than $35,000.
In the first investigation, Lucht was charged in October with scamming $18,000 in equipment and cash from a foundation and four customers. (Ali Stevens)
