DANVILLE – The budget impasse is sending Valley counties to court. Montour County filed a request Friday for approval of emergency borrowing. Commissioner chairman Trevor Finn tells WKOK the county does not have enough money to meet its budgetary requirements through the end of the year since funding from the state has not been released.

Finn says counties have limited option to borrow funds and it typically requires approval from DCED.  Montour County has asked a judge to allow them to borrow funds on a short-term basis and without waiting for DCED approval. The county expects to borrow less than $1 million. A hearing on the matter is scheduled for October 15. (Jennifer Wakeman)
