Middleburg Man Jailed for Rape of a Young Child

A Middleburg man is charged with raping a child in Snyder County.  The Daily Item reports 52-year-old Matthew Gilbert is jailed after police say he raped a young child on multiple occasions over a three year period.  Gilbert is accused of assaulting the child when she was between 5 and 8 years old.  He has been charged with five counts of felony rape of a child along with several other charges.  Bail was set at $250,000.
