MILTON — Police are investigating a medication theft in Northumberland County. Reports say someone stole medication from a home on North Old Mill Road in East Chillisquaque Township. The theft took place between February 13 and 16. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact state police in Milton.
In a related note, a Drug Take Back Day is planned for Saturday in Northumberland County. Unwanted prescription medications will be collected for proper disposal at several locations in the county, including police departments and the Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office.
District Attorney Ann Targonski says in addition to prescription drugs polluting water systems if they aren’t disposed of properly, drugs are often stolen from medicine cabinets, “We’ve had several instances in our county where we’ve had people wake up and had people in their house and all they are doing is rifling through their medicine cabinets.” (Codi Jade)
