SUNBURY – Sunbury Mayor Kurt Karlovich confirms a Sunbury police officer will be back on duty after being placed on administrative leave in December, “At this time, the city will not comment on confidential personnel matters. I do look forward to seeing Officer Mazzeo back on the work schedule again.”
Mazzeo was placed on leave after two internal investigations revealed what former Mayor David Persing said were multiple violations of department rules. Mayor Karlovich also wouldn’t elaborate on whether further discipline was taken against Mazzeo. Mazzeo confirmed he met with city officials but has also been asked to remain silent on the matter.
