WINFIELD – One of the Valley’s U.S. Congressmen is standing by Donald Trump despite his admissions and some accusations from women. Rep. Tom Marino (R-10th, Cogan Station) met with constituents at the Union County Republican headquarters in Winfield Monday.
While Marino disagreed with Trump’s words about women, he says Trump is still a better choice for President, “I don’t agree with it. I made it very clear that the statement in the video was deplorable. I didn’t like it at all. He apologized for it. Still, it’s wrong, but I want to address what I think the positive side is. He’s a thousand times better than Hillary Clinton. She’s part of the establishment; she’s part of the problems we have overseas. She is the problem in Benghazi.”
Marino says Trump’s record speaks for itself, “I don’t agree with what was said by Donald Trump, but look at his record as far as hiring women and those women in top executive positions. I’m not even making the excuse that this happened 11 years ago, it should have never happened.”
Marino says it is time for a President who is outside the Washington, D.C. establishment, “Republicans and Democrats and Independents, they’re sick and tired of being sick and tired and they’re definitely fed up with the establishment on the Republican side and the Democrat side.”
Rep. Marino serves at Trump’s chairman in Pennsylvania. He is facing a challenge for his seat in the 10th congressional district from Democrat Mike Molesevich.
