DANVILLE – Outdoor enthusiasts have a new hiking and biking trail in Montour County. The Montour Area Recreation Commission (MARC) has opened an additional 3.5 miles of the North Branch Canal Trail.
The newly completed section is located in Mahoning and Cooper Township and expands upon the 0.4-mile section opened in October 2015. The trail is semi-natural with a grass surface, suitable for pedestrian and off-road bicycles.
MARC expects to open additional sections of the 6.2 mile North Branch Canal Trail from Danville to Catawissa later this year. Approximately 1,200 volunteer hours have been donated since December 2013. Here is a link to more information about the North Branch Canal Trail.
