SUNBURY — A man accused of killing his wife in Turbot Township, Northumberland County has pleaded no contest to voluntary manslaughter. 69-year-old Robert Thomas was scheduled for trial next month, but entered the plea at a pre-trial conference Thursday.
Thomas also pleaded no contest to tampering with evidence and false reports to law enforcement. He originally told police that someone broke into his home on Phillips Road in April 2012 and shot and killed his wife Patricia. Thomas later changed his story and said he accidentally killed her while handling a gun in the home.
