DANVILLE – A man accused of swinging a machete at two men in Montour County pleaded guilty on Monday. 51-year-old Gerardo Gonzalez-Ortiz of New York was charged with terroristic threats and simple assault for the incident September 1 on Mill Street in Danville.
Police say Gonzalez-Ortiz was living in an apartment on Mill Street, when he ran down the stairs with a machete and threatened two men walking by. The men were not hurt but told police they feared for their lives.
Gonzalez-Ortiz was arrested and sent to prison before being released on bail three weeks later. The Press Enterprise reports Gonzalez-Ortiz returned to New York before returning this week to enter a guilty plea. He has not yet been sentenced.
