SUNBURY – An unusual case of theft in Kulpmont after a man filed false paperwork claiming ownership of a home. Prosecutors in Northumberland County say 52-year-old Herbert Brian Stout filed a false deed for a property at 1425 Chestnut Street in Kulpmont.
The property owner, Brian Burda, lives out-of-state and claims he never sold or transferred the property. Stout allegedly forged a notary’s signature as well as that of Burda on a deed which put the property into Stout’s name.
Northumberland County district attorney Tony Matulewicz says Stout is charged with two felony counts including criminal trespass and theft. Stout currently occupies the house on Chestnut Street. Additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues.
