SUNBURY –46-year-old Jose Colon will serve the rest of his life in prison, following the fatal shooting of Kasandra Ortiz and a seven-hour standoff with police in February 2018.
The Daily Item reports Colon will serve 46 to 92 years in prison for third-degree homicide and 64 other criminal charges related to the shooting.
The Daily Item reports Colon shot Ortiz after assaulting her on North Rock Street in Shamokin and dragging her to a dirt lot. A standoff began after Colon was located in an upper floor apartment. He reportedly fired 11 shots at police during the standoff and was struck by a bullet from a state police emergency response team member.
