Man arrested for attacking pregnant girlfriend

MIFFLINBURG – A Mifflinburg man is behind bars after punching a pregnant woman in their home Saturday.  25-year-old Michael-Paul Schoening was arrested by Mifflinburg police and charged with aggravated and simple assault.

 

Police say Schoening and his live-in girlfriend were fighting at their apartment on Chestnut Street around midnight Friday, March 11. During the argument, Schoening allegedly punched the woman several times in the stomach, choked her and attempted to push her down a flight of stairs.

 

The woman, who is pregnant, told police Schoening said, “I don’t want you having a baby of mine.” Mifflinburg police arrested Schoening after the woman reported the incident to police. He was arraigned before District Judge Jeffrey Mensch and was sent to Union County prison. (Jennifer Wakeman)
