DANVILLE – Berwick District Judge Richard Knecht has been reassigned to the case against Mahoning Township Police Chief Chad Thomas. Knecht was assigned the case by the Columbia County court administrator’s office. This comes after Montour County District Judge Marvin Shrawder recused himself from holding the preliminary hearing. Shrawder dealt with Thomas on numerous cases. The hearing has been rescheduled for next Tuesday at 9:45 a.m.
Thomas is charged of huffing compressed air while on duty. He faces two counts each of sale or illegal use of certain solvents and noxious substances.
