LEWISBURG – A number of Valley’s and state’s conservation organizations have formed a new alliance. The Merrill Linn Conservancy has announced the founding of the Conservation Union. It is an alliance to foster cooperation among organizations working on local conservation.
The union plans to have roundtable meetings with groups such as state Game Commission, U.S. Fish and Wildlife, and the Natural Resource Conservation Service. Also invited will be Trout Unlimited, county conservation districts, and the Buffalo Creek Watershed Alliance. They’ll discuss new issues, upcoming projects, and volunteer and funding needs.
The Conservation Union’s first meeting in November drew representatives from over a dozen local, county, state and national organizations. The public is invited to the next meeting of the Conservation Union, this Friday at 7:30 a.m. at Union County Government Center in Lewisburg. We’ve posted their contact info on WKOK.com.
