HARRISBURG— A Valley superintendent is being honored as the best in the state. Lewisburg Area Superintendent Dr. Mark DiRocco was named the 2016 Pennsylvania Superintendent of the Year Thursday by the Pennsylvania Association of School Administrators. DiRocco’s program, “Shared Goals” was recognized in receiving the award. The program is a team teaching strategy aimed at raising achievement among the district’s growing population of economically disadvantaged students.
Under DiRocco’s leadership, students in the Lewisburg Area School District have performed in the top five to top ten percent of students across the state and the nation on the PSSA, SAT, and ACT. All of the Lewisburg schools have also received state and/or national recognition. (Matt Catrillo)
