Lewisburg school board adopts budget w/ slight tax increase

LEWISBURG – A small increase in taxes for property owners in the Lewisburg Area School District. Lewisburg Superintendent Dr. Steven Skalka tells us the school board unanimously adopted its budget for the 2018-19 school year that includes a tax increase of 0.38 mills. The $35.1 million budget is an increase of 3% from last year’s budget. Factors for the tax hike include special education costs and benefits, plus retirement and pension increases.

Taxes were not raised in last year’s budget and the board also voted to eliminate the Per Capita Tax earlier this year.
