LEWISBURG — One of the Valley’s service clubs hopes to recruit some young people. The Kiwanis Club of Buffalo Valley in Lewisburg, in partnership with the Public Library for Union County, is launching the Builders Club, a new service club for teens. The club is geared toward sixth through eighth graders from all local schools and homeschoolers in Lewisburg.
Organizers say the club aims to engage members in meaningful service projects both within schools and the broader community. Monthly meetings, starting at four o’clock on the first Thursday of the month at the library, will feature skill-building activities which they say will enhance academic progress.
Kiwanis says they’ll have hands-on service projects, and presentations focusing on civic and social issues. Enrollment is limited to twenty participants. Students interested in joining can register online at www.unioncountylibraries.org.
