Lewisburg Community International Festival Kicks Off Saturday

LEWISBURG – Bucknell University and the Lewisburg Downtown Partnership will host the inaugural Community International Festival this Saturday during Bucknell’s Family Weekend. Kendy Alvarez is mayor of Lewisburg, “The Community International Festival is really an opportunity to highlight some of the international community which resides here in Lewisburg. We’re in partnership with Bucknell University because we do have a large population of international students that come, but it’s also that we have international faculty and staff.”

Mayor Alvarez says downtown Lewisburg will come alive with global food vendors, cultural performances, and displays from local groups and international student organizations.

She says the many activities start near Vedder Hall at 10am, then move to Hufnagle Park at noon. State College’s Eric Ian Farmer and Friends will perform at 12:30 PM at the new Hufnagle Park Pavilion. A full schedule is available at www.visitcentralpa.org.

The festival, supported by the Degenstein Foundation and community partners, celebrates diversity, and aims to strengthen ties between Bucknell and the local community.
