Help abused children in the community

casaSUNBURY – There are many children in the community who have been abused or neglected and need an adult’s help.  So says Jennifer Rempe of Susquehanna Valley CASA, “We are Court Appointed Special Advocates.  We work with children who have been abused or neglected and end up in the foster care system.”

Rempe continued, “The judges that work in the foster care systems and the courthouses appoint us to the case, to help them be their eyes and ears.  We do our own investigations, our own monitoring and our own interviews.”

Rempe says they are having an informational session Wednesday morning for potential volunteers, “If you are interested in learning more about how to become a volunteer for Susquehanna Valley CASA in the court system, we will be at the Union County Government Building tomorrow morning at 7:30.  You can find out a little bit more about CASA.”

There will be a continental breakfast served at the meeting.  The Union County Government Building is on 15th Street in Lewisburg.  To register, go to www.susquehannavalleycasa.com.  (Ali Stevens)
