KULPMONT – A Kulpmont man was charged with armed robbery on Monday morning. Mark Allen Getz Jr. faces robbery, resisting arrest and weapons charges for the incident at the Turkey Hill store on Chestnut Street.
Police say Getz entered the store wearing a mask, armed with a 12-inch kitchen knife. He got away with a large amount of cigarettes and some cash before fleeing on foot. Police searched the area for Getz and after a brief foot chase, he was taken into custody around 2 a.m., and the stolen items were recovered. Getz was sent to the Snyder County Prison. (Ali Stevens)
