ELYSBURG — Following a warm weekend, folks across The Valley are anxiously awaiting the opening of their local theme park. Knoebels Amusement Resort officially opens Saturday. This week the staff is working hard to move park benches into place, prepare rides and ready food stands.
The most anticipated addition this season is the new steel coaster, “Impulse.” The coaster has a 98-foot high chain lift hill, a 90-degree free fall drop and speeds of 55 miles per hour. Knoebels is hoping to have Impulse ready to ride on opening day, but they will not know for sure until Thursday.
Other new additions include a complete refurbishment of the Giant Wheel, with a 45-minute LED light show. Also, the Phoenix received a new lift hill this winter. And along with tri-taters and pierogis, The Round Stand will now serve cheesesteaks as well. You can learn more about the fun, food and fantasy at Knoebels Amusement Resort on Facebook and at Knoebels.com. (Codi Jade)
